InTech, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rijeka, Croatia, has been working on a great event focused on robotics, more specifically on the subject of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). The one-of-a-kind event, named INTERACT2012, is to be held in Rijeka, Croatia, on September 3rd.
INTERACT2012 is conceived as a one-day long, free-attendance event, featuring lectures, workshops and a robot exhibition, all centred on overviewing, discussing and promoting the latest research and application in HRI. So, in order to give to all attendees the absolute best of HRI out there, the keynote speakers invited are non other than some of the most renowned and respected HRI researchers world-wide: professors Hiroshi Ishiguro (Osaka University), Andrea Bonarini (Politecnico of Milan) and Pericle Salvini (Scuola Superiore Sant’ Anna).
The peculiarity and originality of INTERACT02012, in comparison to other robotics conferences/gatherings, lies in our attempt of promoting the latest of technological advances in the field, both to an audience of academics/researchers and the general public. We strongly feel that talking directly to all kinds of audiences, and not just specialised ones, about what will impact our society and culture is key to better understand and embrace the new technology on the horizon; long story short, robots are about to blast into our every day life, but do we really know when and how?
